Cristiona Suraco Obituary
Cristiona (Cristi) Dominique Suraco
Cristiona (Cristi) Dominique Suraco, beloved wife of Charles 'Jay' Suraco, mother of Karrington Armstrong, Karyna Armstrong, and Kaidyn Suraco and grandmother of Kaisen Armstrong passed away January 22, 2021. Born December 15, 1964 in Kimberley, BC Canada, she was the eldest daughter of Pierre and Ethnea Mousset-Jones, and sister to Stefanie Mick, Jacinta Mousset-Jones, and Nicola Mousset-Jones. She spent her youth hiking and skiing with her family in the Sierra Mountains, running on the Silver State Striders and traveling to England where she attended school and spent time with extended family. She earned a bachelor and master's in education from the University of Nevada and after several years teaching, returned to school to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She completed an R.N., and then served as an O.R. nurse in several local hospitals. Being a nurse allowed Cristi to express her deep compassion, which she poured out on her patients without reservation. As a gregarious and loving person, she was greatly blessed to share her life with many close friends whom she adored and who adored her. Her greatest joy in life came from watching her children and grandson grow, and she was the most avid supporter of their pursuits.
She will be cherished forever by her husband Jay as a loving wife and life partner of 19 years whom he treasured beyond words. He attributes Cristi's love for him as the source of healing that allowed him to survive a difficult period of his life. He holds dear the special memories of their wedding and couple retreats, as well as the simple daily acts of sharing meals, relaxing, or taking walks together.
A devoted mother and grandmother, her children are grateful for her generous, supportive, and nurturing spirit. She was their biggest cheerleader, and her encouragement instilled in them the confidence to be their best. She was welcoming to everyone and always willing to help anyone in need. Above all else, she was the person they loved most in the world, their rock, their everything.
Her parents recall her as a most loving daughter who checked in on them most every day. They admired her determination, that despite her own difficulties, she always chose to focus on the wellbeing of others. She lived her life with cheerfulness, a positive outlook, and an abundance of laughter.
Her sisters, along with her nephews Timothy Mick (Hosanna), Aidan O'Heany, Oliver Krisetya, Peyton Mick, her nieces Brianna Mick, Naomi Mick, Savannah O'Heany and Charlotte Krisetya, and her brothers-in-law PJ O'Heany and Markus Krisetya will always remember Cristi as a wonderful sister and aunt. They hold onto the many happy memories and like to think of her in one of her favorite places, sitting contently on Pacific Beach under an umbrella reading a book, surrounded by family.
She is remembered also by her extended family in Oregon and the U.K. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Grace Community Church at 1220 Robb Drive on February 6th at 1pm. Masks and social distancing are required. Please wear Cristi's favorite colors, pink or purple, or other bright colors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the GoFundMe account (gofund.me/6cc977e2) to support her youngest son's future college education, something dear to Cristi's heart.
