David Goldberg Obituary

DAVID ROBERT GOLDBERG, age 76, passed away on October 2, 2016 at his residence in Fernley, Nevada. He was born March 31, 1940 in Torrington, CT to Isadore Solomon Goldberg M.D. and Celia Bazil Goldberg, and had lived in Fernley, NV for 10 years, coming from San Leandro, CA. Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, reading, crossword puzzles and classic movies. He traveled the world as a merchant seaman, eventually working in the Seafarers International Union. He enlisted in the Marine Corp and served 18 months in Vietnam in Force Recon. Upon his return home, Dave viewed every remaining day of his life as a gift. Dave received a bachelor of arts degree from New York University. He belonged to ICORE in Fallon, NV and IDPA in Carson City, NV. He grew as a person and enjoyed many years of success as an investigator and Reserve Police Officer. Dave will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley of Fernley, NV; son, Jon Goldberg of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Rachel Goldberg of Stuart, FL; granddaughters, Brittany Goldberg of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Tia Goldberg of Santa Rosa, CA. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Fallon, NV 775-423-2255.

Dave was such a wonderful man, he was more than just a neighbor he was family. He is missed so much. I love you Dave!! You were so fun to talk to and hang out with you and Shirley are amazing people and I am so glad that I got to meet you 10 years ago. It was such a blessing to have you in our lives. Don't worry Dave we will take care and be there for Shirley, the love of your life. RIP my dear friend.

My heart goes out to the family. Dave was a great partner in the investigation division of the District Attorney's office. We never really lose friends, we just have to relive those memories alone. Rest in peace friend.
