David A. Hage

(1929-2010)

David Arthur Hage was born to Reinert and Grace (Clayton) Hage on July 9, 1929, in Elko, and passed away on April 2, 2010 in Tonopah, NV. The second of five children, he grew up in Elko and various surrounding ranches, and enjoyed a life-long appreciation for the history of Nevada and the Great Basin.

He married Nancy (Babbitt) Hage on May 5, 1950, a union of 60 years.

He was employed in the logging and trucking industries, and prior to his retirement, worked as a mechanic for Parsons Construction in Silver Peak.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Clayton and Wayne. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, David (Velda) Hage of Reno, and Dyan (Wayne) Yeager and Elaine (Raymond) Jensen, both of Tonopah. Five grandchildren: Shaunna (John) Leggio, David (Nicole) Muns, Jerry (Jeni) Yeager, Michael (Toni) Hage, and Melinda (Sam) Jeffrey, and 10 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Faye (John) Tewell of Fallon and Alice Hage of Woodburn, OR, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at the Hage family cemetery at Pine Creek Ranch, on April 7th at 1 p.m., Judge John Davis, officiating.

Dave loved sharing his knowledge of history with his family and friends, and was a constant source of information regarding the settlements and activities of the early Nevada pioneers.
