David Sederquist Obituary

David Nathaniel

SEDERQUIST JR.

David passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2008. He was born February 25, 1920 in Haverhill, MA. He grew up in Rochester NY. David was an exceptional high school student and studied mathematics and economics at the University of Rochester where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, graduated with honors and a Phi Beta Kappa. He married Marilyn Sylvia Thompson in 1944 and they spent 56 loving, happy years together. In 1956 they fulfilled a dream by moving from Dallas, TX to Belvedere/Tiburon, CA. He enjoyed telling the story of how the dream started in 1945 as he first flew over the San Francisco Bay Area to Hamilton Field in Marin County. “Some day I'm going to live there!“ he boasted to the co-pilot. It was here that they raised their family and later retired. For the last six years Dave has lived with his son, Steven and his wife, Kathy in Reno. He enjoyed this family setting, the forested Galena Forest environment and time on Montreux Golf Course with his favorite game. Dave served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a pilot and instructor and enjoyed talking about his “flying days“ both as an Air Corps pilot and his brief time as a pilot for Braniff Airways. After Braniff, Dave worked as sales manager for Stewart Office Supply in Dallas with a fellow Air Corps Officer. He was branch manager for General Fireproofing in San Francisco and eventually he and Marilyn owned a residential and commercial security company. Dave was an outgoing, sensitive, engaging and cheerful person who always had a joke and a smile ready.

Dave is survived by his elder son, David N. Sederquist III of Palo Alto, CA; his daughter Maren Sederquist (Steve Ricketts); daughter, Heather Sederquist, (David Kelsey) and son, Shane; and by his younger son Steven T. Sederquist of Reno NV, (Kathy Sederquist) and his son, Jason Sederquist, Kathy's daughter, Shane Kelley, (Jeff Kelley) and their son, Liam. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of David N. Sederquist to the American Cancer Society, 1- 800-227-2345.
