David Jeffrey Weiner, (50), Reno resident, passed away January 30, 2013 from an accidental fall. Born February 23, 1962 in Los Angeles, California, David was raised in Glendale, California, and graduated from Herbert Hoover High School.
David began his career as a proud police officer for San Gabriel Police Department. He went on to Simi Valley Police Department where he served as a D.A.R.E. program and Field Training officer. Upon retiring from Simi Valley, David transitioned his career to become a vigilant fraud investigator for HUD in Reno and King County Housing Authority in Seattle. An avid Cardinal baseball fan, David also enjoyed touring baseball stadiums nationwide.
David was passionate about national politics and very patriotic. He was an enthusiastic cat lover and will be sorely missed by his feline companions, Bengal and Puma.
David is survived by his adoring mother, Judith Weiner (71 years old) of Reno, NV; sister, Lorraine Reinhart (husband, Erich), and nephew, Tayler; sister, Valerie LeMaster (husband, Curtis), nephews, Troy and Holt, and niece, Shay; and sister, Patricia Capretta (husband, Antonio), and nephews, Matteo and Quinton. David was preceded in death by father, Jerome, and brother, Daniel. David was a devoted son, loving brother and uncle, and will be deeply missed by his family.
Private services were held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Ross, Burke & Knobel.

I knew and worked with Dave for many years. We were close friends. I still miss him very much. I just yesterday (06-01-2017) examined the scene where he was found. I hope his Mom and family are doing well these days.

It was a shock to see that Dave had passed away. I met him working at KCHA and he had a kind heart and was very generous. He will be missed

I am saddened to hear that Dave has passed away. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that God heals a of your broken hearts and gives you peace. I worked with Dave here at KCHA and he was such a pleasure to work with. I will and have already been missing him since he left the authority. Praying for your family.

To the Weiner Family,
Very sad to hear about David's passing at such an early age.
I used to work with him in Reno and I recall him being a nice and respectfull
fellow. Sometimes, he joined us ladies for a glass of wine on the "Friday Night Ritual".He was quite funny and entertaining.
Again, very sorry for your lost.
