Deann Dodson

Deann passed away on July 25th at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City after her long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. She was born in Reno and graduated from Sparks High School. She worked as a dental assistant throughout her life. Deann was a special person, fiercely loyal to her family, friends and her faith. Anyone who knew her appreciated the wit and wisdom she possessed. She was an avid reader and gifted gardener, who loved and appreciated the beauty nature offers.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years Jim, son David, daughter Sarah Wood and her husband Trevor, grandchildren Jack, Mazzi, and Edie, brother Larry Hauder and his wife Ilo, brother Gary Hauder, sister Neilda Kellison and her husband Craig, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tracy and Lois Hauder and her brother Wayne Hauder.

Services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 beginning at 1 PM at the LDS Stake Center, 411 N Saliman Rd in Carson City followed by a grave dedication at Eastside Memorial Park cemetery at 1600 Buckeye Rd in Minden. Walton's Funeral Home in Carson City is assisting with her arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to remember Deann do so by contributing in her name to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, http://www.huntsmancancer.org/

I extend my sincere sympathy to Jim, David and Sarah for the loss of Deann. What a very special person she was--awesome cook (her Christmas cookies were the best), imaginative gardner and all round wonderful person. She will be deeply missed by so many. Our deepest sympathy to Diane's family. We heard of her passing at our SHS Class Reunion this last weekend. She was a wonderful person and she will be sadly missed. We all said a prayer for her at our 50th and will pray for her family in this time of sorrow.

Deann, you will never be forgotten. I always admired what a devoted mother you were, the friendship between you and Sarah was so unique and impressionable. I will always remember our fun trip in Seattle and how much you loved the entertainment value that my sweet father in law provided at the korean bbq. LOVE YOU!!! Until we meet again.

I am so very sorry to read this obit. I only met Deann briefly during the short time I lived in Minden. I knew her husband, Jim, from SHS, and her father, Tracey was my visiting teacher when I was a girl. I remember seeing Deann, Jim and family in a beautiful picture diplayed in the business window of a popular photographer in Carson City. It was a stunning portrait. This family was well known and very respected. I know that their memories and their strong faith will be of comfort to all of them. My sincere sympathy to the Dodson and Hauder families.
