THACKER

Eugene John Thacker (Skeeter), 47, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Renown Medical Center in Reno. He is survived by his children: Steven Thacker, 27, of Gillette, Wy.; Robert Thacker, 21, of Imlay; Annie Thacker, 19, of Lovelock; grandson Skyian Thacker, 6, of Casper, Wy.; his mother Florence Thacker of Winnemucca; brother Joe Thacker of Carlin; sister Jennifer Leavell of Cosgrave; nieces, nephews, aunts, un- cles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Eugene Donald Thacker.

Eugene was born in Lovelock on Aug. 21, 1961, and spent the majority of his life in northern Nevada. He worked at many different occupations throughout his life, from construction to mining, and was a skilled carpenter and handyman. His true love was for fishing and the out- doors. No one man enjoyed this earth more than Skeeter.

All who spent time in his presence felt at home with him, and his family and friends knew they were truly loved and appreciated whenever he was around. We will all dearly miss him and please know that he will dearly miss you as well.

A “Gathering of Friends“ will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the home of Rod and Jennifer Leavell, Cosgrave, to celebrate his life.

I miss you dad, all the time. I wish you were here to meet all your grand babies and tell them all your crazy stories. Just to watch them grow up, and to see how I've grown too. I love you.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. I met Gene in 1979 at the Fallon Junior Rodeo the year he broke his leg. I will never forget Gene! I often wondered how he was doing. You will be missed by everyone......Rest in Peace, Skeeter!

Sorry to hear about the passing of "Skeeter". I remember him from when I was a kid, he and my brother, Roger, were friends and hung out together. Now they can hang out together again. Rest in Peace, both of them.
