I cannot over emphasize the profound impact Eve Loomis had on my life. She taught me the joy of theatre; a joy I still carry. She taught me professionalism, which has proven invaluable in all my endeavors. After working with her for a few years, I managed to gain her respect enough to call her Dwa. When she said I could refer to her by that appellation, I felt like I'd won an Oscar, become a Jedi, and created world peace. I was so proud! That Lady inspired me and instructed me so well; not just as an actor, but as a person. She remains one of the greatest influences of my life. With sincerest Love and Remembrance, Dan Nimmo

I have acted little over the past thirty years, but I tell stories about my education from Dwa Dwa. I have become friends with the producers of a local volunteer theatre company who remind me of her passion and commitment. They run a teaching organization, working with local public schools. I attend performances regularly; Jim and Joe and the company bring back memories of Eve's genius. And her kindness. The boys have badgered me to audition for several years; perhaps I will someday. When (or if) that happens, I will do my best to conjure Eve's strength. I will need it. With sincerest regards, Dan Nimmo

Eve directed me in the first play I was ever in, Hansel and Gretel, in the basement of Reno Little Theatre, and we performed together in Equus at UNR. I saw The Me Nobody Knows that she directed at Hug, which was one of the best shows I ever saw in Reno. Debbie and I were friend in high school, and I think of Bothnof them often. I was led to this page when I was interviewed after retiring from teaching theatre at Reed College for 30 years and mentioned Eve as a big influence in my life. The woman who interviewed me suggested I try to find her, unfortunately a little too late. But what a great lady!

I remember Ms. Loomis as the spiritual leader for many drama students at Hug HS. I always smiled and laughed after engaging with her. She was contagious and one of my fondest memories if having fun. Bless you, Eve!
Eve and me at Hug High 1975. Wonderful mentor, amazing director, fellow actor and loyal friend. I miss her...

Mrs. Loomis was my acting coach. I learned so much from her and she set me on my career path. She was so talented, so giving and passionate about teaching us. She was amazing, always shining brightly. I've carried many of her lessons with me throughout my life. I looked her up today to reach out and tell her thank you. She will be missed.

Eve directed me in plays, and I was lucky indeed to have been cast with her a few times. To be anywhere near a stage in the presence of Eve Loomis was pure joy! We were also colleagues at Hug, and she was a lifelong friend to me and to my family. My life is much richer for having known her!

Ah Eve, I don't know who was the bigger kick in the pants at RLT...you or my mother and now you two can crack each other up again. I'll always remember how your eyes lit up no matter who were talking with and the encouragement and positivity you so generously shared. Hugs.

My condolences to Eve's family. I met Eve the first year Hug opened. Since there was not an upper class to show us the ropes, if you were part of Eve's drama class that year in addition to acting you learned how to build sets, run the sound system and change the light above the stage. We were a small family headed by Eve who not only taught us how to act but how to care about each other, to be respectful, discipline and courage; all skills we took with us when we graduated. We became great friends and remained friends long after I left Hug. She was a bright spot in my life and I think of her often.

I still can't believe she picked this shy, skinny girl to be the Fairy Godmother in Hansel and Gretel in the early 70s at Hug High School. I will never forget her booming voice, her love of life and her perpetual energy! Thank you for being unique and giving all of us the most unforgettable memories! I don't think you are RIP in heaven, I think you are shaking things up, which is needed!

I cannot overstate the import Eve Loomis had upon my life. She taught me the meaning of professionalism in theatre. She pushed me and prodded me to be the best. I, consequently, arrived early for all rehearsals and performances. I was astounded when she cast me in a musical role when all I sang at the audition was "Happy Birthday." I had good company. Those who studied with Dwa stuck with her.
Thank you, Teri, for setting this up.

...I will never forget you Mrs. Loomis...your words of boldness still echo in my ear. You are even characterized in my tween novel series..."She always dresses in one color, and I mean every shade of it, down to her leg warmers!" lol ...You were my first acting coach, my first mentor. You were the one who said, "Of course you will!" Because you instilled your love of the arts in my heart and sent a young struggling actor "pocket change", I ate, I thrived, and because of your encouragement...I gained the fruition of my acting career. I can truly say I get to do what I love to do...and it all began with you. Thank You Thank You Thank You Mrs. Loomis!!! To all your children...thank you for sharing your mother, your grandmother, and your great grandma with me! She is greatly loved...

Ms. Loomis is a huge part of who I am today. She was not only my high school theatre and dance teacher, but my friend. She helped me learn who I was and what was important. She motivated me to find myself, to not be afraid to be who I wanted to be, to not worry about what others think and gave me some wicked acting/dancing skills. I never realized how old she was when she was teaching us dance class…..her age was always timeless. I have spoken to her in the store several times in the last decade and her contagious spirit and personality were still the same. When folks ask me who the influences and role models have been in my life, Eve is always the first one I mention. She impacted so many, both in her teaching and in the community. Eve will always be remembered as a one of a kind, amazing, special mentor and I will always be grateful for having her in my life.

Eve was not only my teaching colleague at Hug HS, but also a longtime family friend from when I was a little girl. She was always so vivacious--a true force of nature. I loved her to the moon and back. She would join two other former teachers and me for lunch each summer when I returned to Reno for a vacation. It was always a pleasure to find out what she was up to. I will miss her.

Eve Loomis was an inspiration to me having known her 25+ years, I couldn't help but admire her strength and vigorous enthusiasm for life. Sharp as a tack - she always understood my puns, and witticisms even the far fetched ones. Eve I will always love you and never forget you. It was an honor to have you at our family's significant events over the years.

To the Loomis Family;
Please accept my deepest sympathy for you loss.
Everyone remembers the really great teachers that they had in school. Well, Mrs. Loomis has to be the greatest teacher that I didn't have. In the two years that I attended Sparks High School I was not in any of her classes yet her presence there was palpable. Her energy and enthusiasm were an inspiration to faculty and student body alike. While I appreciate the many great teachers that I did have, I regret not having the opportunity to add her to that list. Rest in peace Mrs. Loomis, your legacy is not forgotten.
