We just found out about Carl and he will be missed. He's always worn a smile from the first time we met him. He was an amazing friend, son, husband and father. He always smiled when talking about what his son was doing at the time. He was very proud of his family. He surely will be missed but never alone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

It seems like only a few short years ago when Carl was telling me of a Girl He fell in love with. I remember how happy he was getting married to the Woman of His dreams and the happy arrival of His Son Matthew. He Loved his Family and was/is an inspiration to Me. I will forever remember the days long, long ago, fishing for lake trout on Lake Tahoe and telling me some of the happy experiences He and His family had. I miss You my friend, and my Condolences to Gina, Mathew, and the rest of your Family. May the thought of You always bring a bright smile to their face and a sparkle in their eye.

Dear Gina, Matthew, Howard and Judy,
My wife just told me of Carl's passing. This brought tears to my eyes - I cannot even begin to imagine how devastated each of you truly are. My heart goes out to each of you. I was fortunate to know one of the finest men who exemplified a husband, father, son and friend. He knew sacrifice to mean service to others and did so with a willingness and love as no one I have had the opportunity to meet in Reno in the past twenty four years. I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for sacrificing your time with Carl and sharing him with us. We have been a Blessed City for all that Carl and each of you have been willing to give all these years. I hope that through all of the sadness each of you are able to find peace. Blessings and love to each of you as you remember Carl always.

Carl was such a joy to see when he came into the DMV over the years, dating back to 1989, as I remember. He'd flash that smile with his dimples and you couldn't help but be uplifted for the rest of the day. His parents raised a wonderful, well-mannered son. God Bless Carl.

I worked at the Coney Island next door th Howard's. Carl worked on my car all the time and for whatever was ailing my car. He was AWESOME. Often he would change my oil and in trade have 2 roast beef sandwiches from the Coney. He took such good care of everyone. He was always busy running himself ragged and always had a smile. So sorry for the family. My love and prayers are with you all. Carl was indeed a wonderful Man. Julie Sullivan

"Heart of Hope"
Grief is overwhelming me
Lord,
There is no relief, even
with my deep belief.
I long for my heavenly home
where I'll never be alone.
Surrounded by love from
those that dwell above,
In the presence of my Lord,
I will kneel down and adore
My grief will be no more,
when I enter through that
Heavenly door....

I have known Carl since moving to Nevada in 1974 and growing up with him in the Virginia Foothills area and going to school with him at Wooster High School. Years later, I ran into him again at the family service station while I was an NHP Trooper and we re-connected....not only did he assist me with servcing my vehicles but he was, most importantly, a friend and an asset to the Reno-Sparks communities. I have no words to say right now since I am in shock over this. My sympathies and prayers go out to his family and friends over this tragic loss....God bless you Carl!

I was surprised to learn of Carls death at such a young age. When my sister told me the sad news I immediately sent prayers for his family (especially his young son). They say the good die young and Carl is truly one of the good ones! God Bless All Of You and know you will all be together again one day. No one will ever forget his happy smiling face.

Carl was a very caring and giving man. My family has gone to his shop for as long as I can remember. He gave me a job when I needed it and he did everything he could to help others in need as well. His loss is one that will be deeply felt by so many people, my entire family included. My love and support go out to his wife and son. We love and miss you Carl. Always, Jacque Lloyd and Family.

Carl will be so terribly missed by everyone that had the chance to meet him. Carl had the unique ability of making you feel like "you were THE one person that he had to see today!"; even if all he said was "Hi, How are you?". My husband and I were so grateful when Carl agreed to be in our wedding! Thanks you so much Carl. My husband says that Carl is the "angel" that brought us together. So true.

Dear Strasser Family, I was shocked to read of Carl's death---he was much too young! I want to thank he and his dad for the many years they worked on my husband's old Lincolns while having lunch at the Coney Island. I remember the family when Carl was a little guy learning to ski at Tannenbaum. The whole family was among our favorite customers and I grieve with you all.

I had the pleasure of meeting Carl through my Fiancee's parents around four years ago and he literally saved us on several occasions needing engine repairs and tires when needed. His smile and concern were beyond equal and his sense of humor were unparalleled... I last spoke to he and Wife Gina before Christmas and was heading down to San Francisco to get them a few bottles of select wine in Sonoma as I'm a native San Franciscan as a thank you for his kindness and always great prices... I'm so sad for his Family as he was the kind of family man that they will dearly miss and a all of his customers as he was an "old school" business where the little man was a giant in his eyes. May his Family know all of us wish them the very best and rest in peace dear Carl. God Bless

Like my daughter said "I know it is true but why can't I believe that he is gone." Carl always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he dealt with. He worked so hard when he was at the station. When he came home and got to spend time with his family you could see him relax and really enjoy every moment. He will be missed by so many people - the world has lost a kind soul.

I will never forget when we went up to Tahoe one summer. Gina was pregnant with Matthew and we went to relax on the beach. Gina wanted to even out her tan and was sunning her belly, that ended up getting extremely burnt. If she had only listened to Carl, who kept trying to cover her up while saying, "You're gonna burn the baby." He was a fun and loving man that was full of life. I am so sad you will miss the journey of your son, who is blessed to have had you as a father. I know you will keep a close watch over your family with Sarah by your side. You are missed.

Dear Strasser Family – I am so sorry to read of Carl's death and of your great loss. Carl was a wonderful childhood friend to me growing up in Virginia Foothills. He was always kind to me when kids could be so unkind. In high school he never let his upper classman status be a barrier to saying hello though we traveled in different circles. Later in adult life he attended my wedding and it was great to re-connect with him. As a businessman, he provided great service to my family. Certainly, he did make the world brighter. My deepest sympathy.

Carl was one of the kindest people I have ever met. One of his best customers Carl was honest, fair, courteous and kind. He spoke of his children and family with great pride while fixing and caring for my vehicles, I always drove away happy and pleased with the work he had done. Carl cared for the people in his community. Young and old he made sure all of our cars were street worthy and running . He will surely be missed. With a heavy heart myself and my family bid you farewell. God was longing for this angel.
