John Benavides Obituary
John Benavides was born May 11, 1955 and died peacefully February 11, 2012 in Reno, Nevada surrounded by his family after succumbing to a lengthy illness.
In addition to his family, John had 2 other major loves in his life: the martial arts and being a trucker. John never saw trucking as "work" but it was a satisfying lifestyle which brought him contentment. He had driven a "big rig" for over 35 years before his illness. He has passed his love of Custom Auto Modifications onto his son, Jeremy. As for martial arts, John was a disciple of Shifu Zhang and had also studied with Kungfu Grand Master Wang and Master Lu Shengli in Beijing. He was the head intsructor of Yen Cheng Gong Fa Assoc. in Reno and taught Taiji and Tongbei. He was a fifth degree black belt in Kenpo.
John is survived by his wife, Rebecca, son, Jeremy Hagan and daughters: Angela Benavides, Heather Hagan, Alicia Martucci and Jonette Benavides, along with 5 grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat, Feb 18th at 3:00pm at the Warehouse Christian Ministry, 1509 Greg St., Sparks, NV.
