John Echo Obituary

Born in Ukraine in 1923 during the peak of communism, John survived severe famine in his childhood, war in his teens, and escaped from a concentration camp in his young adulthood. Finally after much adversity he had a chance to come to America. He believed his poorest miserablest day in America, was living like a king, compared to where he came from. When John first came to America, he moved to Boston Ma. where he met his wife Nina. They soon moved to Reno to get married, they were married 47 years. He spent many years working for Harrahs' Automobile Collection. He had many talents. He was a silversmith, engraver, artist, master chess player, spoke 5 languages, played mandolin and taught trigonometry. Though he had all these talents, his all time favorite thing to do was to make people laugh. He had a great sense of humor to share with anyone in any situation. John is survived by wife Nina Echo, daughter Julie Beck, son Yul Echo, several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, December 17, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Crosswinds Church, 2100 El Rancho Dr. Sparks, NV.
