Karen Knisley Obituary

Karen

KNISLEY

Karen Knisley passed away on September 18, 2008, at her summer home in Lamoille, NV. We honor her and remember the good times and memories.

During her school years at Lake Tahoe and Lovelock, she was always known for doing something fun. She was excellent at everything- —athletics, music, clubs, and mischief. Some of her fondest memories were of 4H shows in Reno and water skiing at Camp Richardson, Lake Tahoe. After graduating from Pershing County High School in 3 years, she attended University of Arizona where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. Attending her 50th high school reunion was the highlight of her last summer.

She lived in Boulder City for the last 38 years and continued her belief that one should serve their community. She was a member of Rotary, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, president of Boulder City Hospital Board and the Planning Commission. One of her special joys was traveling the world. She laughed her way through Europe, the Orient, Mid East, South America, and Alaska. She would dare to go anywhere and do anything.

She was a "people person" who loved making things happen—-the life and light of any party.

To Karen's sister Barbara

I was saddened to hear of Karen's passing. She was always such great fun. I liked to go to her house on the Big Meadow and look at all the memorbilia she had hanging on the walls. Camp Richardson was so much fun.

i too grew up with karen. spend summers with her, time at camp richardson, and lots of memories of hight school. we did have loads of fun, we were young and had so much life ahead of us. I only wish we would have stayed in touch, and shared our lives experiences. I think of her with fond memories as she was a great part of my life so long ago,

I got an e-mail from Kay shortly after our 50th Class Reunion. I didn't get to go and her e-mail was the first time I communicated with her since we had graduated from high school - PCHS, class of '58. I was very happy to hear from her and excited to once again "chat" with one of my very close childhood friends. And then she was gone.
I have many happy memories of us growing up - all through school, in Rainbow, GAA, sports, 4H, Big Meadows Larks Club, football games, volleyball games, basketball games, the school's first drill team, trips to Camp Richardson in the summer on the Lake and in the winter in the snow, playing at snow skiing in their back yard at Camp R, hiking to Upper and Lower Angora Lakes, sports trips in the school bus, slumber(less) parties, trips to 4H camp, trips to Rainbow Grand Assembly, being line officers together, birthday parties, snake dance pep rallys through town and the movie theatre, going to the movies (yes, in Lovelock),riding around in our cars, playing hide and seek all over town (sometimes in our cars), swimming at Big Bend, and parties at Pit Damn, just doing all the things we did growing up in Lovelock and there was always something to do. And the final thing was working on our Class Annual and Graduation.
We were both Lower Valley kids so when we went places we often went together. I remember her mom, Sis, and her sister Barbara and enjoyed being at their house on the Big Meadow Ranch. I am proud to say that Karen (Kay) was my friend. She will always have a place in my heart and in my prayers. With much love,

I'm sorry to hear of Karen's passing. I had such fun working with her at Camp Richardson after Graduating in 1957, just before going to Beauty College. She was a Wonderful friend. Sincerely, Rosalie Albee Almond Field of Reno.
