Katherine Wyatt Obituary

Katherine M. Wyatt

February 16, 1924

February 19, 2012

Katie Wyatt, 88, passed away in Las Vegas, NV. She was one of eight children born to Minnie and Ray Hiatt in Modesto.

After graduating from Modesto High School in 1942, Katie married Frank Wyatt and moved to Florida, where they resided until the end of WWII.

Upon returning to Modesto, Katie not only raised their two boys, Frank and John, but also worked as a tinting and retouch artist for both Gordon Ham and Shoob's Photography. The family moved to Reno, NV in 1965, where Katie's husband managed Lee Bros. Truck Rental. They returned back to Modesto in 1974, owning and operating Modesto Truck Rentals.

Katie's love of music found her involved in Centenary Methodist Church choir, Reno Civic Chorus, the Mothers of Note, as well as singing with her sisters and nieces whenever possible. Her favorite companions were Grandma, Grandpa and Speedy Jose, three desert tortoises who lived in her backyard.

Along with her husband, Katie was active with the Modesto Roadrunners RV group and the Downey Jazz Band Boosters. She also continued volunteering for Angels on Wheels, driving patients to appointments and delivering meals to shut-ins. Katie lovingly nicknamed her car the "Widow Wagon".

Katie is preceded in death by her husband Frank H. Wyatt; sisters Mildred Ayling, Margaret Doe, Elizabeth Bednar; brothers Charlie, John and Raymond Hiatt. She is survived by her sister Eleanor LaCore Currie.

Katie is also survived by sons Frank (Kjersti) of Las Vegas, NV and John (Renee) of Branson, MO, grandchildren Andy (Melisa), Kristi (Jeremy), Russell (Holly) and Blake plus 4 great grandchildren

Services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Modesto (the corner of McHenry and Norwegian). Donations may be made to the church.

Your Mom can finally be back with Frank. They were both so much in love with each other, and their family. I can never forget all of life's lesson that I found thru my having been given the grace to a part of both of their lives. They both truly had the sucessful method of living life to the fullest while making sure they made a difference for many others at the same time. I wish you my sincere thoughts and prayers as your Mom begins this new journey home.
