Larry Cerio Obituary

Larry (Lars) Cerio, Jr.

May 3, 1964

December 28, 2016

Larry Marco Cerio Jr., age 52, was found in his home alone with his beloved dog, Stunner on December 28, 2016. He was born on May 3, 1964 in Long Beach, Ca. Larry went to Reed High School and worked at Firth Rixson Viking in Verdi for more than 15 years .

Larry will be remembered not only as a loving father, brother, son and friend but also as an amazing musician, who in his career with The VooDoo cats opened for such artists as Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Black Crows, Fog Hat Greg Kin and many others. He was a studio musician for several bands including Dr. V out of Chicago.

His love of the percussionists from his grandparents era led him to begin playing the drums at only 8 and he started writing his own lyrics at 13. He had started a local band almost 23 years ago called Love and Agony and this has led to his own clothing line with the same name. Larry was an active participant in much of the music around town.

Larry was preceded in death by his niece, Andrea and his mother, Dianne. He is survived by his son, Andrew, his father, Larry Sr., his long- time love, Lisha Gill, his sisters Laurie Rupert (Mike) and LeeAnn Matteoni (Dohn), nieces Jessica, Alicia, Nicole, Amanda and their families.

A celebration of life is set for Sunday, January 15th, 1:00 at Studio On 4th Reno, Nevada.

As a boy I studied Judo under Dr. Llop. I have never forgotten him. His gentle manner and warm presence inspired me and gave me a lifelong love of martial arts, a passion which I've kept and now passed on to my children. Thank you, Dr. Llop, for everything you did and shared. -SR
