I'm in total shock. Lisa and her kiddos traveled with me and my son, Ross to Disneyland via the Big Red Boat, visit to Dallas and Austin. I met Lisa while visiting my dad, Joe Orthbandt one summer and we remained friends forever. Lisa was one of those people that you admired for so many reasons and wanted to emulate and draw and learn from the strength she possessed at all times (even the darkest times in her life.) I sit here in shock that I, and the rest of the world is going to have to continue on without one of the BEST friend, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. I love you so much Lisa, and my world is a bit emptier without you.

Lisa was a fantastic teacher, mentor and friend to my children. Always offering a friendly smile. Always pushing her students to excel. I will miss her warm cackle/laugh!

Dearest Gloria, Peter, Dana, Mike, Kristie and and Family
I was overly saddened to learn of the sudden and untimely passing of such a Wonderful, Giving and Compassionate person while I was reading some posts today on Facebook. Lisa had many roles that she excelled at in life but, I find that I can only offer my Most Deepest and Most Sincere Heart-Felt Condolences for your loss to the following: If Lisa was your Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Teacher and Friend / Neighbor/ Mentor. If you were one of the selected people in her life mentioned above or ever had the fortune in life to have met or been a part of her daily life or just in passing, You were blessed to say the least. As for me, Her Contagious Smile is something that I have to this day and now will forever more Cherish; as it had been directed to me on many occasions while growing up on Geary Street in Reno. Sincerely, Timothy Andrew Conn

Lisa was my best friend when I moved to Reno. she was always laughing and trying to pull a fast one on a friend. She was a good teacher and worked hard. We hadn't seen each other much in our time past high school too much. I wish I had gotten to say good bye and didn't know she was ill. It all happened so fast. I pray for all her family's peace and know she had a great family she loved very much!

I am in total shock. I moved here in 1981, and we met through a mutual friend. I remember being at her home to watch the balloon races. Yes she was a loving and giving women. Just recently I discovered she lived around the corner from one of my best friends. She is the one who let me know. I am so happy we were able to catch up.

I was very sad to read of Lisa's passing. We loved our students from this family (Lisa, Peter, Mike, Dana and Kristi) at Peavine Elementary School. I know all of you will carry on as good citizens and helpful adults. God Bless all of Lisa's family.

I loved coming to Huffaker and seeing her. She was always smiling. She will be truly missed. Huffaker has lost a wonderful educator and friend.

I recently felt compelled to reach out to my best friends from college and get us all togehter for brunch. It had been way too long since we had all been together, at lease 35 years I think. We finally came up with a date and met a Peg's for a Sunday brunch. It was so great to see her and my other sororotity sisters. We were as thick as theives back in the day, and it did not take us long to take right back up where we left off. She was in my wedding, and I was in hers. We went around the table and shared where our lives had taken us. Lisa, was perpetually youthful, with her zeal and that laugh! It was like time had stood still and we were right back in college. After brunch was over, we sat outside and talked for a long while after, there was so much to discover. She gave me a card that day thanking me for getting us all together and it ended with "I hope we can do more often" and sadly I will never get that chance. That was on Feb. 12th, 2017. I will be eternally grateful that I listened to my gut telling me to get us all together again. She was something special indeed. Her love of her kids, grandkids and students was the fire that burned so bright in her. We will miss you Lisa, and I hope we can. So very sorry kids and grandkids for your loss.
Love you Lisa!

My oldest cousin, always known as Reno Lisa (to distinguish her from my other cousin Lisa), was very kind to me (the youngest, pesky cousin) on the few occasions we visited. -- Cat

I will always treasure memories of working with her at Huffaker and from playing BUNCO together. My love and prayers are with all of you.
