Mark Anderson Obituary

Mark L. Anderson

Sparks - Mark Anderson, retired alcohol distributer and lead guitar for the world famous rock band Angry Inch Mob, died April 25, 2018, from complications of metastatic colon cancer. He was born in Grand Forks, MN on April 6, 1957. Mark graduated in 1975 from White Pine High School ( go bobcats!) in Ely, Nevada where he played tenor sax for the school's jazz band. He continued to live in Ely with his beloved father Jack for several years before moving to Sparks, where he worked as a truck driver for Southern Wine and Spirits, For most of Mark's life, he was a freewheeling bachelor, with a winning smile and a gorgeous, cancer-resistant head of hair that drove his groupie wild. Unlike the rest of his family ,he never drank, smoked or provided alternative facts. Mark was an animal lover and an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Sadly, did not live to see his team win the Super Bowl. He was a fabulous guitar player, a guitar collector and a fan of classic rock. Because obit pictures are usually grainy, please log onto the Facebook page for Angry Inch Mob for a picture of him and the band, and please post a kind comment if you knew Mark. Mark is survived by his beloved mother Beth Jacobs, sisters Laurie(Paul) Ferrin and Elise Weatherly, niece Heather Weatherly, a grand -nephew, Joshua Weatherly, and his calico named Chord. Mark was one of the kindest, gentlest, most generous, and most honest person one could ever meet. His wonderful sense of humor was intact to the end. No services are planned as this time, but a charitable donation can be made to Ormsby Association of Carson City. PO Box 491, Carson City, NV 89702.

I recently returned back to Reno for a short visit and learned about Mark's passing. I had the privilege of being a close friend of Mark, going way back. We would play guitar for hours then record our progress on his 4 track and later his 8 track that he shared with his sister. When I heard of his passing, I literally sat down on a guitar stool (at Bizarre Guitar) and starred at the floor. I was in total shock. For those of you who never had the chance to meet Mark, he was the most lovable and friendliest guys one could ever meet. He was fond of his cats and his collection of guitars. I recall one day we went to Lake Lohanton to play on a stage with some other musicians and you would think that he was playing Madison Square Garden. LOL He loved to perform and express his feelings through his personality and his guitar playing. He could play any song, by ear on guitar, (which made me jealous). Mark had an uncanny way of bringing out the best in anyone he ever met. I remember one day when he first told me that he was going to the Caribbean to deep sea dive. He was so excited and I laughed when he asked me to collect his mail and feed his cat. I laughed because I could not believe that he was actually going somewhere, other than work or to the bowling alley. Mark, I will Miss you so much, we had some great times together and I will always cherish those times. You were an awesome friend to me and for this, I will always be grateful. To his family, I am very sorry, my heart goes out to you and to the other people who knew him. I miss you my friend. Bobby
