Fernley, Nevada - Mark Bernard Helgeson, 51, passed away in Reno on December 23, 2013 after losing his brave fight with injuries sustained in a car accident.

Mark was born October 7, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Bernard "Ben" and Patricia "Pat" Helgeson. His parents then moved back to raise Mark and his sister in their beloved Montana. Mark grew up in both Billings, Montana and Red Lodge, Montana where he loved his horses, fishing and the mountains on the ranch that his parents and grandparents shared.

Mark attended school in Billings, Montana at Meadowlark Elementary, Will James Junior High and graduated from West High School in 1981. He enrolled at Eastern Montana College and graduated June 6, 1987 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and information systems. Mark moved to Reno in 1988 where he enjoyed working with computers, summer and winter camping and much time spent with his beloved pets.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Gerald Glenn; his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Alan Banks; stepsisters and husbands, Melanie and Carlos Briceno, Paige and Todd Weber; stepbrother Kray Glenn and wife Christina, his cousins, nieces and nephews, his good neighbors, good friends and Rosko.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Ben Helgeson and grandparents Dolores and Clare Clark.

Memorials may be made in Mark's name to the American Diabetes Foundation or American Heart Association. Cremation has taken place with burial in Billings, Montana at a later date.

I love you Mark and I miss you. But I am so thankful you are happy and healthy now. Wherever I go (all our favorite places that we love!), I take you with me in my heart.
