Mary joined her beloved husband Gerald Hamel in heaven on March 12, 2017. Gerald passed in 2001. She died peacefully at her home with her children and grand children by her side. Mary was born in Boston, Massachusetts. At the young age of 19 she traveled to So. California to visit friends, where she met the love of her life and husband of 50 years. Mary worked along side her husband for many years as vice-president of the family business. She stayed active in the community serving as a "Pink Lady" at St. Mary's hospital. Mary enjoyed serving as the HOA president for many years in the community in which she lived. Mary had many hobbies and interests. She was so accomplished in everything she did. Whether hiking, gardening or quilting, Mary did it with joy and a love that was inspiring to all. Her sense of humor and wit were second to none. She was loved by everyone that knew her. Mary's family always came first. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her Mother Mary Firth, her sister Mildred Blaine and nephew Jack Blaine.

She is survived by her loving family daughter Tina Smith, son and daughter-in-law-Mike and Cathy Hamel, Grandchildren, Nicole and Brian Kennedy, David Hamel, Ryan and Krisin Hamel, Great-grandchildren Jackson and Charlie Kennedy.

The family is holding a gravesite ceremony at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery where Mary and Gerald will be laid to rest together on Saturday May, 20 at 11am followed by a celebration of life at her son's home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Mary's favorite charity, the Nevada Humane Society. Many thanks to those who donate.

She will be dearly missed by her family and all who loved and knew her.
