Mary Alicia (Maria Alicia Flores) McCarty

Sparks - Born in Reno, NV 9/12/1941. Passed away from a long battle with cancer on 8/11/2018. Mary graduated from Sparks High school in 1959 then the Travel Agency School in San Francisco, CA in 1985. She had a full working career including as a cashier shift supervisor for Harrah's Reno for 13 years. Mary was an administrative assistant for Norris Fuel Company, Cashier office supervisor for the Treasury Club, a cashier on a cruise ship for Princess Cruise lines, an office manager for Emigrant Storage for 8 years, a travel consultant for Travel By Us and Ray Heating Accounts Payable for 11 years.

Mary always considered herself very blessed to travel through a lot of the world, traveling to five of the seven continents.

Mary is preceded in death by husband, Charles L. McCarty, Father, Jose Guadalupe, Mother, Socorro M. Flores, Sisters, Virginia Viloria, Lydia Siemens, Cristina Brabant, and Son,Troy O'Toole. She is survived by her brother, Charlie Flores, Children, Todd O'Toole and Gina Flores-O'Toole. Grandchildren, Matthew, Madison, Stephanie, Ty, Savahanna O'Toole and Jennifer Andersen and several great grand children. Stepchildren who she loved like her own, Molly Regan, Meg Davis and Katy Douglas and grand children Christopher Regan, Cameron Regan, Annie Saxon, Hank Davis and Sam Douglas.

A special thank you to Dr. Peter Lim, Elizabeth Kang, and all those working at Center for Hope. Your kindness went a long way for her recovery. The nurses and staff at Renown were helpful and loving, Thank you.

Mary's life had meaning to so many people. She thought it as important to say, "Let Peace Begin with Me."

The public viewing and Rosary Services will be at Mountain View Mortuary located at 425 Stoker Ave, Reno, NV 89503 on Friday August 17, 3-5pm.

The funeral service will be held at Mountain View Mortuary on Monday, August 20, 11am. A graveside service will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Mary often said, "No child should have to endure cancer."

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Our dear Mary! Still can't believe you have left us. So many years and wonderful memories we have together starting with those first days at Harrah's. We will always admire how you handled your battle with grace and dignity. Such a sweet gentle soul! We will love and miss you always and cherish the times we had together.
