They say there is a reason
They say that time will heal
But neither time nor reason
Will change the way I feel
For no one knows the heartache
That lies behind our smiles
No one know how many times
I have broken down and cried
I want to tell you something
So there won't be any doubt
Your so wonderful to think of
But so hard to be without!!!! I love you and miss you

Saltman, you had a keen wit and social grace like no other. I always admired your sense of humor and comic rhythm. Many memories of you bring a smile to my face if not an outright laugh. I’ll always remember you playing running back, carrying the ball with your eyes bugged out while a bunch of 260 lbs guys are chasing you. That and “What’s Sweavin’?”
Everyone loved you so much. May you know and realize the love of all the people you touched.

Dear Soltis Family,
Losing someone we love, makes it seem like time is standing still. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not ever understand why he left this life so soon, just know that he loved all of you, and was loved by many.
Hold tight to the memories of Mike for comfort. Lean on each other, your family, and your friends, and always remember how much we all care about you.
Words can not begin to express our sorrow for the loss of your son, your husband, your brother, your uncle and our friend.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Growing up with Mike, I'd never met anyone who disliked him or didn't think he was the "breath of fresh air" that everyone so much needed. I hadn't seen Mike in over 20 years, but would always ask my cousins (Elliot & Chris Gilliigan) who lived across the street from him, how he was doing...Mike even showed up at our family Christmas and Thanksgiving parties from time to time. He was part of our family. I will truly miss his infectious and continuous smile. There is no better way to remember him than the picture posted here in his memory.
My prayers go out to his family and friends and to all who knew and loved him . Gods speed my friend.

When I think of Mike "Saltman" I immediately see his big smile and can hear his laugh. Although many years have passed since I have seen him, it still feels like yesterday that we were hanging out. He was always the life of the party & the person that everyone liked and everyone wanted to be around. If you were at a party and he walked in, everyone would welcome him by yelling "Saltman" with a big smile. He was and will always be a very special person and how special to be remembered by so many people who all have so many great memories.
My heart goes out to his family, his wife, friends and co-workers in Reno too. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry. He will greatly missed.

Saltman -
How best can I say in words how you impacted our lives? How best to remember you by? A story from our illustrious past seems appropriate....
It was one of those crazy all night parties at the Residence Inn...a stormy, lightning filled sky seemed fitting considering the state of our fragile minds.
At about 4am Salt began explaining to me and Mark that he was really Mr. Mxyzptlk, an imp from the 5th dimension that was an enemy of Superman in the comics. He explained how not being bound by our physical laws, he can do things that seemed to be magical, thus possessing nigh-limitless reality-bending powers, which he often used to pose challenges to others for his own amusement. He was, in the strictest sense, a trickster.
He further revealed that he can only be stopped by being tricked into saying his own name backwards which would return him to his source reality in the 5th dimension.
Mark and I spent the remaining hours of that twisted night trying our best to say Mxyzptlk backwards and thus send Salt back to the 5th dimension.
Needless to say we failed and we eventually, saddenly, sobered up.
But we had a blast.
Salt I believe you are Mxyzptlk. I believe you are the quentissential trickster. You've given all that you've touched the gift of laughter. And you've done this because it's how you shared your love for those of us blessed with your friendship and companionship.
I know now that someone has figured out how to say Mxyzptlk backwards. You've left us. And now your passing has left a void in all of those you've touched.
I also know that those lucky souls in the 5th dimension are now parlayzed with laughter, blessed with the joy and goodness of your companionship as we had been for so many years.
I miss you brutha. You were one of the good ones.

Saltman,
Where do I start. When I think of High School I think of you. When I think of simple laughter, laughing at day to day tasks I think of you. You always made me smile. I could look across the gym, a room, a party and you would raise your eyebrows and make a face and I would laugh. You had a way of looking at life that was so upbeat, it was infectious. I remember a time when someone said something not so complementary to me like is your hair red? Without skipping a beat you responded to them her hair is strawberry blonde and then you smiled at me. To this day even as I see the gray coming in I think to myself my hair is still strawberry blonde. Your sense of humor is not something that could be duplicated. You would say my name and make it into a rhyme. Saltman, thank you for all the wonderful memories I will forever cherish my time with you and hold a place for you in my heart. I can still hear you singing the song Don't stop...Don't stop....and that is what I would like to say to you in heaven.
To Saltman's beloved family,
There are not words to express how sorry I am for your loss. He was a beloved man who touched many. Love to all of you.

To Family and Friends,
I am deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and can assure you ... he will be missed. I worked with Mike for several years and initially knew him as the "morning sports trivia guy" as he commonly won the daily sports trivia radio contests. Mike and I often worked late and chatted about all of life’s issues and conflicts; his perspective, honesty, and humor will certainly be missed. I wish I was able to do or say more to help in this time ... but I cannot. I will hug my children tonight and remember the refreshing and wonderful soul we have lost from our lives; Please rest now my friend, you will live on in our memories.

Mike,
I could not believe what I heard when Jimbo gave me the news. We grew up together and had more great times than anyone could count. Over the years we lost touch, and for that I am deeply sorry. “Saltman” you always held a special place in my heart and you always will. I called my cousin Scotty Ballgame, and gave him the news and his heart sank as well. He always asked how you were doing when we spoke and I always replied that I assumed you were doing great, as I knew you would be. The smiles and the laughs will never end because of you. “Cheers” will never be the same. You are truly a great man. God Bless You.
