Norris George

BARSUMIAN

Norris Barsumian, 80 passed away October 12, 2008, he was born in Los Angeles, CA to Alice and George Barsumian on December 19, 1927. Norris attended Los Angeles High School, the University of Southern California and California State University at Los Angeles from where he graduated and began his teaching career at Taft High School in Woodland Hills, CA.

He met the love of his life, Peggy Cholakian and married her on September 6, 1952. They later became the proud parents of Bruce and Brian Barsumian. As time passed they began the family business, Norris Racing Cams,in San Clemente, CA. Peggy and Norris were married for 55 years until her death in 2007. They were inseparable and were both best friends and lovers.

Norris is survived by his sons, Bruce and Brian as well as his sister-in-law , Diane Everroad, his 103 year old mother-in-law, Isabel Taylor, and two beautiful grand- daughters, Jessica and Catherine. Norris has many cousins and friends as well as Marty Stabile who was a devoted friend and former student.

Norris was a member of the Valley Cruisers Car Club and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and builder of classic cars. His work was incredible and he won many honors and awards. At the time of his death he was writing a book about his father's life in the old country. He was able to travel to Armenia and Turkey to see the place of his parents birth.

Graveside service will be held at the Masonic Memorial Gardens in Reno on Sunday October 19 at 11 a.m.

Norris was a very loving and kind man who was a wonderful cook. His humor was contagious. Bruce is a reflection of his father. He will be greatly missed by us all, but I find comfort that he rests until his reunion with Peggy and Jesus.
