Pauline Kramer Obituary

Pauline Anne

KRAMER

Pauline Anne Kramer, 93, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2009, with family at her side. Pauline was born February 9, 1916, in Winslow, AZ to Paul and Anna Yoder. Pauline's family were pioneers in the State of Arizona. Her mother was a former Harvey Girl and her father was an engineer with the Santa Fe Railroad. She enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with her family as a youth. She excelled in school and was an accomplished pianist and left handed golfer by the time she graduated from Winslow High School. She decided after high school she would like to see other parts of county and went on to attend school in New York City. After she had enough of the big city, Pauline went to work for TWA Airlines and during her employment with them was crowned Miss TWA. Working for the airline brought Pauline to San Francisco International Airport, where she met her future husband, Dale Kramer. Dale and Pauline were married on her birthday in 1944. Pauline lived in San Mateo, CA until December of 1959 where she and her husband moved with their two sons to Reno. After settling in Reno, Pauline went to work for Dr. Libke, but most will remember Pauline as the Post Mistress of the satellite Post Office in the Village Drug Store on California Avenue. Pauline retired 20 years later from what was Longs Drug Store now CVS Pharmacy. After her retirement she spent her time caring for her grandchildren, playing cards with the family, doing her daily crossword puzzles, visiting friends and she enjoyed every minute of it. During her life she was active in Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and the Shrine with her husband, Dale.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Fred and her husband, Dale I. Kramer. She is survived by sons, Reynold of San Mateo, CA and Michael (Marilyn) of Sparks, NV; her grandchildren, Erin Kramer of Chehalis, Washington; Kerrie Kramer of Las Vegas, NV; Nathan Kramer, Wesley Kramer and Alyssa Kramer of San Mateo, CA; and Paul Kramer of Sparks, NV. Pauline made arrangements prior to her death to donate her body to UNR for medical research. At her request there will be no memorial service. Her wit, wisdom, card cheating abilities, and smile will be missed by her "damn fool" sons, loving family, and those who knew her.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Steven Phillips, Circle of Life Hospice Care, and Lisa and Estella of Hearthstone of Northern Nevada for the care they provided to Pauline during the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that donations be made to one of Pauline's favorite organization, the Nevada Humane Society.

I am so sorry to hear of Pauline's passing. I remember her well when I made my dreaded visits to see Dr. Libke many many years ago. After sitting in the dentist's chair and an encounter with the drill she would have a smile and let me pick out a toy ring and a piece of sugarless gum. She was a dear lady. Laura Fontana Luther

Ren and Mike I am so sorry for your loss but knowing your mother she wouldn't want you mourning for a long time. Know that as time passes your grief will be less and the good memories will flood your minds.

Where should I begin? I met Paulines husband Dale, when he was managing the Mapes Airport Bar and restaurant at the Reno Airport. I had lunch there quite often and Dale and I became fast and close friends. Evry once in awhile we would go to Kye Lumkins Squeeze in for ribs. located on Commercial Row, next to the Wagon Wheel. Finest Ribs anywhere. I had so many laughs with Dale, that just the thought of him makes me laugh. I had the pleasure of meeting his beautiful lady Pauline at a cocktail party for Bill Parks. Used to see her quite often at Longs Drug Store. Also visited Dale when he was head of security at the Cal-Nevaa Club. Had a great party when Bill Parks and Helen Dermody got married. Dale and Pauline will always be in my heart. I love them both.
I believe that I met their son Erin when Dale was bragin about
Erin learning the Russian language.R.I.P. God Bless and thank you both for being such wonderful friends. Tony Oliverio
