Richard passed away in a Mesa AZ hospital on October 22nd at the age of 72. He was born and raised in Modesto, CA, lived in Smith Valley, NV since 1974, and enjoyed his winters in San Tan Valley, AZ since 2010.

He is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Betty Ichord; son Richard Ichord Jr.; and step-son Gary Schaefer.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hattrup Ichord; son Tim Ichord of Smith Valley NV; daughter Tammy (Tim) Davis of Gardnerville NV; step-son Gregg (Jackie) Schaefer of Morgan Hill CA; step-daughter Monica (Phil) Metty of Pleasant Valley NY; step-daughter Marcie Schaefer of Hagerstown MD; brother David (Anne) Ichord of Merced CA; 4 grandsons, 11 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great grandchildren.

Richard was a member of Rotary International, District 5190, Smith Valley Rotary Club 569 since 1985. He was Secretary in 1989-90 and 1990-91; President 1992-93 and 2010-11; and a recipient of 4 levels of the Paul Harris Award. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, barbecuing, and especially spending time with his family.

Per Richard's wishes there are no services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Polio Foundation through the Smith Valley Chapter of Rotary International, as this was one of his favorite charities.
