Ricky Triplett Obituary

Ricky Myrl Triplett

Aug 10,1970

Sep 20,2017

Ricky Triplett passed away on September 20, 2017 with his wife, brother, sister-in-law, nephew, mother, mother-in-law and aunts by his side. He was surrounded by love.

Ricky was born to Linda and Donald David Triplett in Reno, Nevada on August 10, 1970. Ricky is survived by his wife of 16 years, Veronica Janel Triplett and four children: Landon age 14, Ashlynn age 12, Rylyn age 9, and Layton age 6; his mother, Linda; his brother, Rocky; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Ricky graduated from Sparks High School in 1988 and soon after started an apprenticeship in the sheet metal trade. He proudly pursued this career and was recognized by many for his work performance and ethics. Unfortunately, he was prevented from furthering this profession due to the physical demands and health issues that began to arise.

Despite not finishing college, Ricky transitioned into working with troubled kids at Wittenburg Hall Juvenile Facility, starting as an "on-call" employee. He went on to become a full-time employee and rose to the rank of Supervisor where he proved himself to be an exceptional asset; not just to his co-workers but to so many children that he was able to mentor and guide through the troubled times in their lives. So many times, he unexpectedly was approached by individuals who he had known as children booked into the facility who excitedly wanted to express their accomplishments to him and acknowledge that it was his guidance that helped them to make something of themselves.

As his family grew and he experienced more impairing health issues, Ricky decided to obtain his insurance licenses and open his own office in hopes of a more flexible schedule. He achieved both goals and for a short time experienced success selling insurance. But due to more unfortunate circumstances he was advised medically that an amputation of his leg was becoming more imminent and he became an amputee in 2011.

Despite the trials and tribulations that Ricky was continually faced with, his smile and personality always lit up the room. In every aspect of his life, he lived to make everyone around him laugh. His overwhelming generosity and selflessness were such virtues he exemplified in his everyday life. During Ricky's life, he was passionate about his family and committed to maintaining close relationships. He treasured his relationships with his grandmother Mattie Fain Horn, until she passed away, his mother Linda, and with his brother Rocky, Rocky's wife Tina and Ricky's nephew Hunter.

Eventually, Ricky was unable to continue working but never lost the enthusiasm for what was really the most important job and the one he was most proud of - being a dad. In the last 4-5 years of his life, Ricky was given the gift to be home and to continually be involved with his 4 children without the distraction of work. He took this on with the same enthusiasm he had for life - with happiness, and joy. He created a unique relationship with each of his kids and committed himself to providing the positive guidance only a father can give. Regardless of the challenges he faced with his health, his heart belonged to his beautiful wife and their children and he sincerely loved being a husband and a father.

Ricky is and will be heartbreakingly missed by his family and so many friends who truly loved him - He will forever be in our hearts as a loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend.

Services for Ricky will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sparks with a Rosary on October 4, 2017 at 7pm and a Mass on October 5, 2017 at 3pm - reception to follow will be reserved for family only.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage all to donate blood or even more to donate platelets, as this gift from others allowed Ricky life and more time on several different occasions during his life. Donations can be made in Ricky's name until October 31st at United Blood Services, 1125 Terminal Way, Reno, NV 89502.

I worked with Ricky at Wittenberg Hall. He was always a straight shooter and never screwed anyone around. I am so very sorry that he is gone.
