Bob was the saving of my mother. She was so lonely. And, she saved him. He was pretty lonely too. Two elderly, lonesome people found one another and made their final years and days ones of love and kinship. I am ever-grateful for their love and Bob's sweet kindness to my mother. Thank you.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Mr. Horton, was a very nice person. I met him working for the US Bureau Of Mines. He would always speak when I ran into him in the halls.

To the Horton family, my deepest sympathy. I was the assistant director for minerals information when Bob was director of the Bureau of Mines. It was a pleasure to serve under a knowledgeable and understanding professional, and I appreciated his confidence in me and the minerals program.

Dear Uncle Bob
Our family is never going to be the same at birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
You had such a wit and sense of humor that doesn't come around often.
Rest in peace.

Bob: "They will know we are Christians by our love." I will always love you. Among the many blessings you bestowed on my family, my heartfelt "Thank You!" for taking such tender care of my Mom.
There is no death. We will see you again when our turn comes 'round. Balloons to the sky. You graduated.

Dear Debbie, Robin and Cindy,
I am so sorry you lost your dad. Your parents were just wonderful people - warm, fun, full of life, and exemplary friends. My folks loved them dearly, and I have wonderful memories of them especially of my visit with them in DC in 1981. They were so kind and generous; who could not but love them? They both were a gift to this world. Peace and comfort be with you.

To Bob's family,
Bob was Associate Dean of the Mackay School of Mines when I was a graduate student there. I got to know him while working at the Keck Museum. Bob was the kindest man. He was funny and wise and had a wonderful depth of experience and knowledge. You have my deepest sympathy on your loss.

I worked for the U.S. Bureau of Mines when Bob was the director of that agency. I also attended Mackay School of Mines in Reno. I enjoyed talking with him about his Nevada mining roots.
