I am saddened to hear of Ron's passing. I, too, was employed by the City of Reno Rec Dept from 1967-1976 and worked with Ron on and off during that time. I have many, many fond memories of such fun times around Moana and Idlewild pools! Definitely a chapter in my lifetime. I remember Ron as a most unforgettable and inspirational man to all. I moved from the Reno area and lost touch. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity of meeting Karen but did know Mike and Casey. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your entire family at this difficult time.

So many adventures run through my mind from the 50's thru the 70's...from Moana Pool to Idlewild Pool and back to the "new" Moana Pool...before, during and after he lost his arm...his resilience to become the State Champion Springboard Diver to his success with the Reno Recreation Dept and his landscaping business...and his magnificent singing voice...we lost track of each other when he began cavorting about in Europe... Condolences to his family and may you all be blessed by his accomplishments and contributions to his students.

My time with Ron in high school and at the pool was special. With Tom Farrar we had some crazy times. My best to the family. I wish I had had a chance to see Rom in the Netherlands. My wife and I went there often.

Ron and I would share a cup of coffee so early in the morning at Robinson Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany. Ron was always in demand to sub because everyone knew that he was not only great at what he did but also had such a great relationship with all of the students. Ron, know that you had such a positive impact on so many young people that your legacy will live on for eternity. You have been and will be missed my friend.

After meeting you and Ron, I enjoyed many a cup of coffee, and many a wonderful dinner with delightful company. I remember one night, Ron said "Where have you two been? Why didn't we meet you before?" We had been working in Bamberg schools for quite a while, but only met two years before it closed. Well, together, we were the creme brûlée after dinner. What could be better than that?
