Roy Roger DeLaney, 68, of Las Vegas, NV joined our Lord on Monday, July 7, 2008. Roy was born in Pioneer, KY. Roy and his family moved to Clarkston WA where he was a 12 year student, graduating in 1958 from Clarkston High School. Roy lived in the Lewis Clark Valley for 28 years. Roy was an avid classic car and street rod enthusiast. He enjoyed restoring antique memorabilia, riding motorcycles, and traveling. He specialized in auto body and custom paint. Roy opened his own auto body and towing company in Lewiston, ID and sold his business in 1971. Driven by his passion for cars, he went on to build and show a number of custom vehicles, travel the show circuit, and win many awards. He founded the Lewiston Autorama and later sold this venue. He served in the Idaho National Guard, 155th Howitzer Battalion, from 1958 to 1966 and 2 years in the reserves. In 1972 he moved to Reno where he resided for 18 years, and in 1974 married Jacqueline (Salters) DeLaney. While in Reno, Roy continued his work in the automotive field and worked as auto body manager for Hallman Chevrolet and Jones- West Ford. He entered the insurance claims adjusting field, first with Crawford & Co. and in 1982, he started his own independent claims adjusting firm, DeLaney's Associated Service, Inc., with offices in Reno and Las Vegas, NV and in northern California. In 1990 Roy and Jackie moved to Las Vegas, where they have resided for more than 17 years. He sold the businesses and fully retired in 2004.

Roy passed away after an 8 year battle with ALS (Lou Gerhig's disease). Roy is survived by Jacqueline DeLaney, his wife of 34 years (Las Vegas, NV); his daughter, Michelle Washburn; son-in-law, Larry Washburn; grandson, Julian Washburn (Lewiston, ID); and his sister, Gertrude Eachus (Dayton, OH). Roy is preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, Rex DeLaney, Esta Combs, Palmer Stidham, and Laile Neace, and his beloved grandparents, DeLoss and Hulda Randall, of Clarkston, WA. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Palm Mortuary,1600 S. Jones, corner of Jones & Oakey, Las Vegas, NV. A celebration of his life will follow the service. Friends may call (702) 367-6560 during the evening to pay their respect. The family wishes to thank “ALS of Nevada“ for their caring support and services. Roy loved life, his family, and waking everyday to the sunshine of Nevada.

Dear Roy, you were such a good friend to me, and you were such a good friend to Paul. We shared so many good times and those are what we will remember. You and Jackie care deeply for your friends and family as illustrated through your actions and affections. We will miss you so very much, Roy. You were a spark of light on this planet never to go out. We were fortunate to have you and Jackie in our lives. Love, Dianne and Paul
