LUDENA

1934- 2008

Roy Ludena, 73, a resident of Sparks, NV, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2008, in Woodbury, NJ. He and his wife Barbara were visiting Roy's brother William Ludena and his wife, Mimy, when Roy was hospitalized with pneumonia.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; brother William and his family; son David and his family, wife Grace and grand- children Trinity, Maximilian, Zoe and Angelina; daughter Leslie and stepdaughter Adrienne Rose and her family, husband Donald and daughter Elizabeth Ashleigh.

Roy was a Commander US Navy Retired who served proudly for thirty years. He enlisted in his home town of New York City. He went through the ranks E-1 to E-7 and then was commissioned and rose again from O-1 to O-5. He served in the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts receiving many awards for his service including a purple heart. He and his wife Barbara are both Navy retired veterans.

Roy was an enthusiastic man who never met a stranger-he was always interested in life around him and constantly learning new things. Since his second retirement from Richard S. Carson and Associates where he was a senior vice president, he had enjoyed renovating his home in Sparks and being an avid RV person. He and his wife Barbara have visited every state in the union and most of Canada since their retirements. He also loved to go cruising-said it was much more fun cruising on the love boats than on the aircraft carriers where he had spent seventeen years of his life.

Services will be on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada, coordinated by Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Foundation for Cancer Research (4600 East West Highway, Suite 525, Bethesda, MD 20814).

I was 19 years old when I started working for Richard S. Carson Associates. I am 57 years old now. I remember Roy Ludena so fondly. He was one of the kindest. Those Navy guys were top notch and the best you could ever meet.
