Sherron Morrison Obituary
Sherron Louise
MORRISON
December 1, 1947 - December 15, 2008
Sherry was, to quote her senior yearbook, “a small woman who packed a wallop.“ She was, first and foremost, a loving mother who put her two children above all else. She made us laugh until our ribs hurt, mainly because she could tell a story like no-one else, even if it was the same story more than once. She was the most generous and giving person we knew. She always saw the positive in a situation and never complained about her circumstances, no matter how dire they seemed. When times were tough she made things “generically exquisite.“
Sherry always looked for fun, whether it was jet skiing, para sailing or dressing up in a wig to embarrass her teenaged son at the movies. In fact, she had asked her sons for a Harley Davidson motorcycle for her 65th birthday. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to see the pyramids at Giza, the Holy Land, Greece, Paris, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and the Caribbean among others. Her strong faith was a central focus of her life and she felt called to minister to others in many capacities. She will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.
Born in San Francisco, Sherry was raised in Sparks, Nevada by her parents, John and Vivian Morrison. She helped raise her three brothers and her sister while she attended Sparks High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and received a full scholarship to Prater College of Beauty after graduation in 1965. She worked as a beautician after high school and became a housewife when she was married in 1967. As a single mother in the 1980's she worked as an administrative assistant at two Reno area brokerage firms. She became a licensed travel agent in 1987. She held several other jobs over the years including working as an office manager, and holding other administrative positions at several local companies; and acting as activities director for a retirement home.
In 2001, she packed everything in her car and drove solo across the country to Florida to attend Seminary. She then drove to Linton, North Dakota, where she worked helping place people in jobs for Experience Works, and also worked at the town library. She passed away December 15, 2008 due to complications from sudden cardiac arrest.
Sherry is survived by her two sons, Patrick and Ryan Lynskey; her father, John Morrison; her brothers, Danny, Randy, and Steven Morrison; sister, Rhonda Riglesberger and their families. A Funeral memorial is planned for Monday, December 29, 2008, 2 p.m. at Sparks Christian Fellowship, 510 Greenbrae Dr., Sparks, NV 89431.
