Silas Corbett Obituary

Silas Treat Corbett

Silas Treat Corbett, 88, of Sparks, passed away on March 30, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Silas was born in Winnemucca, NV to Roger and Beulah Corbett on October 25, 1925. He served honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. Among his many distinctions, he served in an armored division in WW II. Silas was known for his commitment to his family. He worked hard throughout his life and expected the same of others. He was precise in all he did, and was a fervent believer in getting things done right.

Silas is preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Beulah; his siblings, Clara and Ella; and his son, Silas Corbett. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margretta; siblings, Roger, Doll, Vic, and Lilly; children, Cindy Larsen (Craig), Kim Corbett (Donna), Roger Corbett, Tony Corbett (Julie), Margie Corbett and Jim Corbett; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7625 Shadow Lane, Sparks, NV 89434, at 11 am on Thursday, April 3, 2014. Visitation will be held at 10 am. Interment, with military honors, will take place at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, NV.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 7801 Mesquite Bend Drive, Suite 105, Irving, TX 75063, so that others may experience such wonderful care, compassion and support in the final stages of life.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Walton Funeral Home, Reno.
