Thomas Golbov Obituary

Thomas R. Golbov

Tom Golbov, age 83, passed peacefully at his home after complications from surgery. Tom was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to a large family. He is survived by Joan, his wife of 61 years, daughter Lorraine Hiatt, and sons, Alan and George Golbov. Sons Stephen and Ivan were previously deceased. Grandchildren Jennifer, Conrad, Angela, Bradley, Julie, & Anna, as well as Great Grandchildren, Gabriel, Nellianne, Olivia, Ezra, Zoe, Carolyn, Celia, & Kane will miss their Grandpa dearly.

Tom was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea. He was born in Oroville, CA, and moved to Eureka, CA. He and Joan moved to Reno, NV with their young family in 1961, where he joined the staff at the University of Nevada Physics Dept., earned a degree in Physics, and worked there for 15 years. He then worked as a life insurance agent for Transamerica. The position took him and Joan to Phoenix, AZ for 13 years, until his retirement, at which time they returned to Reno to be close to the family.

A memorial mass will be held to honor Tom this week. He was a good man and will be missed.
