Wayne Bassman Obituary

Wayne Bassman

Wayne Bassman passed away January 21, 2021 at Cascades of the Sierra Assisted Living in Sparks NV.

Wayne is survived by his cousin and companion for the past 13 years Donna Lyle, son Robert Bassman (Rita), daughter Kathy Webley (Richard), 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 6 great grandchildren, as well as one sister Lorraine.

Wayne was the youngest child of Earnhart and Rose Bassman born at the family ranch in Fredricksburg CA on July 9, 1933. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1951 and soon after joined the Navy, serving on the USS IOWA. When he left the service, he bought a gas station in Sparks where he met his wife of almost 50 years, Mickey Wallace. Life took them on many journeys, working at the Reno stock yards for his father in law, Irvin Wallace; driving milk truck for James Canyon creamery; ranching throughout Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington, even a short time of farming in Saudi Arabia in the early '80's. They finally settled in Othello and he retired from Simplot.

Wayne and Mickey were married until Mickey's untimely death in 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Loretta Brown.
