Barbara A. Leahy

LEAHY, Barbara A. (Suitor), 88, of West Warwick, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence.
She was the wife of the late John F. Leahy, they were married for nearly 60 years at his passing. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Robert and Kathryn (Mills) Suitor. She was a resident of West Warwick for 64 years.
Mrs. Leahy, in addition to being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother she was head waitress at the former Tiogue Vista. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church, West Warwick and was extremely proud of her membership in the Coventry/West Greenwich Emblem Club # 436, affectionately coined "The Boss" where she was the banquet manager and treasurer for many years. Barbara served as the past president of Emblem Club #436 and the State Emblem Club. She worked tirelessly until her illness to support and fundraise for countless charities.
She is the beloved mother of John Leahy and his wife Nancy, Robert Leahy and his wife Kathy, Donnaz Allard and her husband Robert and Lieut. William Leahy, West Warwick Fire Department and treasured grandmother of Robin, Katie and Christina Leahy, John, Lisa, David and Kyle Allard. She was the sister of the late Kathryn Giangrande, Earl Suitor and Robert "Bud" Suitor.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 8:00 am from the HENAULT - GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am in St. Mary Church, Church St., West Warwick. Interment will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 5:00-7:00 pm.
