Robert Smith Obituary
Mr. Smith was principal of South Kingstown Junior High School for 28 years. Rhode Island Principal of the Year in 1987 and in 1988 he was National Distinguished Principal. In 1990, he received the first Rhode Island Educators Award - The Miliken Award.
He was chairman of the Rhode Island Junior High Sports Committee. The 1995 South Kingstown Junior High School yearbook was dedicated to him and the 1997 South Kingstown High School yearbook was also dedicated to him.
He leaves behind four children, Ward Smith, Christopher Smith, Jennifer Lataille and Rachel Clough. His brother, Brian Smith, and sister, Suzanne Browning, also survive him. He was the loving grandfather of ten and great-grandfather of two.
Bob enjoyed sailing, golfing, storytelling and afternoons at Mariner Grille. He will be missed by many, please raise a glass in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to South County Hospital Cardiac Rehab Center, 100 Kenyon Ave., Wakefield, RI 02879. His funeral service was Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, Wakefield. Visiting hours were Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. For full obituary, visit averystortifuneralhome.com.

Very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a big part of my life for some important years, and I have a lot of fond memories of him. Wish I could be there for the service to tell you all that in person.
