Charleen Dalton

Charleen Dalton Charleen Wilma Sorensen Dalton, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Circleville Sept. 30, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving children. She was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Clayton W. and Wilma Hafen Sorensen. She was reunited with her loving husband, Charles Nordel Dalton, who passed away March 29, 2014, on their 74th wedding anniversary. Charleen attended Brigham Young University where she met and married the love of her life. They returned to Circleville where they started their lives together. They had three children, Terecea, Clayton, and Kim. She served her Savior and community in many capacities. She and her husband Nordel worked in the St. George temple for 21 years. She taught piano and vocal lessons her whole life. She directed many choirs; was in the Gay Nineties (vaudeville) shows. Her voice was beautiful, and she sang all over the state with her daughter and son for different programs and many, many funerals. She was a fabulous homemaker, loving to cook, sew, take care of her beautiful, manicured yard, and her family. She was very giving of her time, talents, and her food always cooking for anyone who came to her home. She loved her children, her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. They were the highlight of her life. She had a love for life with a bundle of energy, busy, self-motivated, fussy and dedicated qualities. She was meticulous in her dress. She is survived by her daughter, Terecea Westwood, Circleville; sons, Charles Clayton (Fran) Dalton, Richfield; and Kim Nordel (Pam) Dalton, Monroe; and sisters, LaJuana Bastian, Billie Lou Johnson, and Geri Lynn (Al) Fairbanks. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Dan Westwood; brothers-in-law, Arno Bastian and Jerold Johnson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, at noon in the Circleville 1st ward chapel, where viewings will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. or Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Circleville Cemetery.
