Donald E. "Don" McGonigal

Donald E. "Don" McGonigal, 76, of Kersey, passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his wife, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 31, 1948 in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late Wilson and Julia Czekai McGonigal.
On August 11, 1973, he married Kathryn Manfroni McGonigal, who survives of Kersey. Together they shared more than 52 years of love and laughter.
Don was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, class of 1966 and a member of St. Boniface Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietanm from 1968-1970, and was also a member of the Fox Township Burial Detail. He earned a degree in Accounting from the DuBois Business College, and was employed by Motion Control for more than 20 years. Later, he served as a consultant for Sand Point Consulting for a number of years. With a great love for music, Don was instrumental in starting the Brockway Lancers as well as the Johnsonburg Diplomats. He was a founding member and served as President of the Johnsonburg Grey Knights, and enjoyed many years of making music with his friends, serving as a loyal and dedicated source of leadership. He also served for many years as the President of the St. Marys Area Band Boosters, and was honored with being inducted into the PA Drum Corps Hall of Fame. When he wasn't caring for his lawn, he enjoyed attending Penn State football games.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by two children; Eric (Carla Dos Santos) McGonigal of Monroeville and Greg (Emma) McGonigal of Kersey; and by his two beloved grandchildren; Ellie and Samantha. He is also survived by one brother; Wilson McGonigal, Jr. of Green Castle, and by an aunt and uncle; Bob and Lois Czekai of Rochester, NY, as well as by several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law; Mary Ann Manfroni and Kathleen McGonigal.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the DuBois VA, especially to Heather DeLong, who was his kind and faithful care aide for more than 13 years.
A Memorial Service for Donald E. McGonigal will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Krise Funeral Home, 339 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846 with Fr. Justin Pino officiating.
Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Fox Township Burial Detail.
Family and friends will be received at the Krise Funeral Home on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Marys Area High School Band Boosters.
