Leo Niedzwecki Obituary

Leo J. Niedzwecki, 89, a longtime resident of Erie, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Conway, South Carolina.
Born March 25, 1927 in Ridgway, Leo was a son of the late Joseph and Kordula (Kalinoska) Niedzwecki.
He retired in 1989 as a supervisor at PHB Industries where he started as an aluminum die caster and worked for 33 years, hardly ever missing a day. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and enjoyed all sports, especially golfing with his sons. "POPPA" loved traveling to South Carolina, Illinois and California to visit his children, grandchildren and to play with his nine precious little ones. He also loved sitting on the back porch with his sister Rosie at her home, in Ridgway, high atop the Allegheny mountains.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita A. (Golebieski) Niedzwecki, who died in 2000; two brothers, John and Vincent Niedzwecki; and a sister, Frances Baranski.
Rita and Leo celebrated their golden wedding anniversary just before she went to be with Jesus. Leo has spent the last 17 years anticipating their reunion. Now they are happily reunited in heaven for eternity.
Survivors include three sons, Michael J. (Cathy) Niedzwecki, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Lee P. (Debbie) Niedzwecki, Ottawa, Illinois, and Robert S. (Michele) Niedzwecki, San Ramon, California; a sister, Rose Dattoli, Ridgway; sisters-in-law Patricia Golebieski and Valerie (Norman) Haight, all of Johnsonburg; six grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Eller, Scott (Kristin) Niedzwecki, Stacy (Cory) Dorsey, Joe (Beth) Niedzwecki, Shane (Ashley) Niedzwecki and Amy Niedzwecki; nine great-grandchildren, Dylan and Aydan Eller, Emma and Coleton Niedzwecki, Rylan, Ayla and Skylar Dorsey, Izaak and Maddox Leo Niedzwecki; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass for Leo J. Niedzwecki will be held Saturday, April 22 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 816 W. 26th St. Interment will be in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Boulevard, Erie, on Friday, April 21, from 5-8 p.m.

I'm sorry to hear that Leo and Rita have passed on, but glad to know they are together again. I only knew Leo from the words of his wife Rita, which were filled with love and respect. I did my student teaching under Mrs. Niedzwicki and had much respect for her, will remember her always.

I will always cherish spending Xmas holiday at 34th Cascade St. Leo and Rita were close to my heart and were genuinely great people. Heaven should be proud to have them there. Hopefully, they're playing cards and drinking "Pivo" (beer) with Tony and Shirley Niedzwecki.
