Nickalos Oliver Shugars

1945 - 2026

Nickalos Oliver Shugars, age 80, of Mountain Run Rd., Penfield, PA, died March 25, 2026 at Penn Highlands-DuBois.  The only child of the late Oscar and Ruth (Arnold) Shugars, he was born on June 15, 1945 in Port Alleghany, PA.  On July 2, 1966 he married Sandra (Nicklas), who survives at home.
Along with his wife, Nick is survived by three children, Nick (Kathy) Shugars, Jr. of DuBois, Cheri (Chris) Beer of DuBois and Denise (Troy) Young of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Bryan Pyne, Derek (LeAnna) Pyne and Meghen (Dylan) Filler; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Easton Filler.
Nick served in the US Army from 1963-'65 and was Methodist by faith.  He worked most his life as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Stokers Mines and a Truck Driver for Riverside/Penn Traffic.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He has lived the past forty five years on Mountain Run Road.
Public Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, PA.  Funeral Services will follow the visitation at the funeral Home.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley American Legion Post 978 Honor Guard.
Interment will take place in the Highland Cemetery of Highland, PA.
