Melvin F Launer

1944 - 2021

Melvin F. Launer, age 76, of Old Klondike Road, Johnsonburg, PA, died unexpectedly, May 15, 2021 at Pen Highlands-DuBois.  A son of the late Frank and Mabel (Lacener) Launer, he was born on September 10, 1944 in St. Joseph Missouri.
Melvin is survived by: his only child, Mollie (John) Steger of North East, PA; his only grandchild, Brittany Painter; and numerous cousins and friends.
Melvin graduated from Johnsonburg Area Schools and served in the US Army from 1967 – '69, spending a year and a half overseas and continued service in the US Army Reserves until 1973.  After the military, he worked several years with the Johnsonburg Police Department and then worked many years as Janitor for the Johnsonburg Area High School, retiring in 2014.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, watching football, baseball and many kinds of racing; playing electronic poker and going for ice-cream.  He lived all his life in Johnsonburg.
There will be no public visitation.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg, PA.
Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 with Pastor Stephen Fair.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg/Ridgway Servicemen's Detail. Service members are asked to assemble at the funeral home, 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
