Carl Ownby Obituary
Born Feb. 13, 1941, in Harriman, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lydia Husky Ownby. He retired from Y-12 in 2006, and had worked at K-25, Roane Hosery, and Harriman Paper Mill. He had served as a deacon at Laurel Bluff Baptist church. He was an avid Tennessee football fan. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Daniel Ownby; brothers, Robert and Ray Ownby; and sisters Ruth, Mary, Blanch, Sylvia and Grace.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda G. Ownby; daughter, Melinda Kelly and husband Bill; son, James Ownby and wife Leah; four grandchildren, Lindsey and Samantha Jones, Chance Ownby, and Chandler Ownby and fianc‚ Tyler Brazell of Spartanburg; and great-grandson, Silas Marsh. A special thank you to Comfort Keepers of Spartanburg (Slava, Lisa, Roxanne) and Hospice (RoyNett and Pam).

Until my 12th birthday, I spent a great deal of time with Carl. He was always my favorite uncle. May God watch over his family and receive him into his heavenly home.

Dear family, I am a cousin of yours, Sharon Ownby, daughter of Winford Carson and Celia. I'm so sorry for your loss, may God comfort you in his arms. I new Carl when he was young, mom and dad would visit with Sylvia lee and Earmel, Rob and Lydie. I remember he had the most beautiful eyes. I think that's an Ownby trait. I live in Knoxville, TN at 1169 Winding Way. Bless each of you.
