Alice Goodwin Obituary
May 24, 1927 - September 24, 2022
Alice Sue Goodwin, 95, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
Sue was born in Glen Alum, West Virginia, to Preston and Margaret Dunman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George W. Goodwin; her two sisters, Eileen Rose and JoAnne Decker; a niece, Claire Douglas-Beech; and a nephew, William Rose.
Upon graduating from high school, she came to Roanoke to the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing and then attended Wake Forest University for the Nurse Anesthetist program, retiring in 1990. Sue played the organ and piano at West End Presbyterian Church for close to 60 years. She was very dedicated and giving of her time and talents.
Sue is survived by nieces, Kerry Rose, Linda Decker, Laura Douglas, and Elaine Douglas; and by nephews, Don Douglas and Larry Decker. She is also survived by great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tony Ward officiating. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.Oakeys.com.

Sue was a lovely lady. We went to church with her and always enjoyed her music. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
