Ann Johnson Obituary

Ann S. (Polly) Johnson, 73, of Salem, Va., passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2007. She was born April 7, 1934, daughter of the late Amos Lawrence and Elizabeth Mann Smith. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Hanford (Bur) Johnson; two daughters and son-in-law, Kim J. Ferguson and Lisa and Carl Turney; a brother, Jerry L. Smith; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Mary and Rob Thompson, Pam and Mike Cromer and Janet Viar and the late Rennie Viar; three grandchildren, Max Hunter Darnall, Eryn Turney and Cameron Turney; sister-in-law, Barbara Thompson; and a number of loved nieces and nephews and special friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 from the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. William Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Clement Elechi and his staff for their loving care and also to the amazing nursing staff on 6th Floor, West at Lewis Gale Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Polly's name to the United Way or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.johnmoakey.com.
