Beverly Hale Obituary
November 21, 2022
Beverly Mitchell Jones Hale, 80, of Roanoke, Va., peacefully passed away at her home Monday, November 21, 2022. Beverly was a near life-long resident of Roanoke and an alumna of Jefferson High School.
Throughout her life, Beverly was known for her bashful laugh, a smile that always lit the room, love of family and always opened her home to many family gatherings. She loved her home, garden, her feathered friends and her fur babies, Smokey, Sadie and Sofi.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Clifton Beverly Mitchell; mother, Doris Blount Mitchell; son, Bryan Keith Jones; former husband, Quentin R. Jones Jr.; son-in-law, John F. Stone; grandson, Quentin D. Grubbs; brother, Brandal Gregory Mitchell; and husband, Wayne Douglas Hale.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Terri Jones Stone and Kimberly Jones Campbell and husband, Dale; sons, Steve Hale and Billy Hale; brother, Gary C. Mitchell and wife, Suzy; sister, Ginger M. Tolley and husband, Mike; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mitchell; and grandchildren, Amanda Burckhard and husband, John, Megan Sexton and husband, Jesse, Wesley Hale, Rachel Hale, Taelor Hale, Colby Hale, Justin Stone, Tiffany Joyner and husband, John, Cassidy Campbell, and Chelsea Campbell. Beverly is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice and to all of her wonderful caregivers that were so very kind and compassionate.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Oakey's South Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request any donations be made to the SPCA, Angels of Assisi, and to the American Cancer Association. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.Oakeys.com.

I'm a former neighbor of Beverly's. I only really knew her in an informal sense, but I grew very fond of her nonetheless. She was so generous: every Halloween, Beverly handed out full size chocolate bars, which thrilled the children. Some would circle back for more and Bev always rewarded them with more. Bev always waved "hello," whether coming or going down the street. Big smile on her face. She was so kind, gentle and giving. I will miss her.

So sorry to see Beverly has passed. Prayers for Beverly and her whole family! I will always be thankful for all she did to help Gary,Joe and me get our business started and make it successful. She never mentioned it or asked for anything. I did not know Beverly well but will always remember her kindness easy ways. Sorry will not be able to attend her service but will be there in my thoughts.

Gary, I just want to let you know how sorry I was to see Beverly's obituary....it feels like a little piece of our youth, for sure. Avon Road and all of us who lived there really just seems like yesterday. I'm sorry that we didn't really know each other as adults because I know we would have continued our friendship. I hope you are well and I send you my deepest sympathy in your loss.
