Brandon Cruz DeMarr
November 13, 2002 - October 4, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brandon Cruz DeMarr, who was called home on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the age of 22. Born on November 13, 2002, in Prince Frederick, Md., Brandon was a vibrant soul whose presence will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Brandon attended Leonardtown High School and later became a dedicated logistics specialist at Temco, where he poured his energy into his work. He was an avid basketball player and a passionate fan of football, with a special fondness for the Baltimore Ravens. He found joy in video games, immersed himself in music, and dedicated time to working out. Above all, Brandon cherished the moments spent with Mia, his beloved rescue pit mix from the Humane Society of Roanoke, whose companionship brought him great happiness.
Brandon was a familiar face at the Kirk Family YMCA, where his spirit shone brightly. He contributed to the community by working at the front desk and was often found playing basketball or lifting weights. He formed many friendships and cherished the sense of belonging he found there. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Kirk Family YMCA, the Roanoke community, and all the friends who embraced him and supported him throughout his journey.
Brandon leaves behind his mother, Jennifer DeMarr and her spouse, Rae Wedding; grandmother, Alice Jefferson; grandfather, Richard (Dicky) DeMarr; sisters, Aiyana Holland and Carina Reed; father figures, Celester (Sauce) Washington and Casey Reed; great-uncle, Billy DeMarr; aunts, Jessica DeMarr and Holly DeMarr; nephew, Jordan Smith; niece, Talaiyah Dickens; and cousins, Vincent (Mikey) Bowen and his wife, Lara, and Gavin Weaver. He is also survived by numerous friends and community members. All who will forever hold him in their hearts. May his spirit inspire us to seek joy, embrace kindness, and value the laughter and love that life brings.
A funeral service for Brandon will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. A visitation will follow the service from 4 until 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in his name to the Kirk Family YMCA or to the
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
As we honor Brandon's memory, we encourage everyone to cherish the moments of connection and love that we share with one another. His family would like to shed light on the importance of reaching out if you or someone you love are struggling. Remember you are never alone, and you are never a burden.
