Brenda Louise Dowdy

Brenda Louise Dowdy, 60, of Blacksburg died, Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Montgomery County, Virginia on October 7, 1946 to the late Irvin Thomas and Bertha Ellen Cook Dowdy. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Reed. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Junior Whitaker, Mae Arrington and Gregory Conner, and JoAnne and Thomas Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Jr. and April Dowdy, all of Blacksburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Jones of Radford, Gail and Sydney Noonan of Blacksburg, and Sue and Jimmy Wirt of Christiansburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irvin Jr. and Charlene Dowdy, and Donald and Susie Dowdy, both of Radford; numerous grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leonard Reed of Pilot; and special friend, Wayne Cook. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in the Dowdy Family Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Tuesday, July 17, 2007, and the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
