Christine Dudley Dillon
January 3, 1935 - August 23, 2025
Christine Dudley Dillon, 90, is now in the presence of the Lord and reunited with her beloved husband of 72 years, James. She passed away heartbroken but peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Christine was born on January 3, 1935, in Franklin County, Va., the eldest daughter of six children of Rufus P. and Novella Dudley. From her earliest years, she was known for her gentle spirit, steadfast strength, and deep faith. As a teenager, while working at People's Drug in Roanoke, she met James Harvey Dillon, the love of her life. The two were married before she graduated from Franklin County High School in 1953, with the blessing of her teachers, who allowed her to leave school early while James was home on military leave. Their devotion to one another remained an enduring testimony of love and faithfulness until James's passing just a few months before her own.
Christine is survived by her two daughters, Melody Susan Dillon Pugh (Kenneth), and Gina Lynn Dillon Williamson (David), who will continue to cherish her traditions and carry forward her legacy of faith and love. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James Hunter Hobbs, and Katherine Chelsea Williamson Grant (Charlie Adam); and great-grandchildren, Noah Alexander Williamson and Phoenix Dillon Hobbs, who brought her immeasurable joy.
She is lovingly remembered by step-grandchildren, Jennifer Justice (Bryan) and their children, Jake, Kyla, and Lily, and Christopher Pugh (Kelsey) and their children, Jaylen Gibson, Sonya Ferchichi (Aziz), Brody, and Rowan Pugh; as well as her great-great-granddaughter, Nour. Also surviving are her sisters, Shirley Clark, Darlene Wheeler (Kent), and Jane Meador (Alvin).
In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her husband, James Dillon; and her brothers, J.D. Dudley and Randall Dudley.
After raising her daughters, Christine served as secretary at Peter's Creek Church of the Brethren and later at Bethel Baptist Church, where she faithfully worked until retirement. In her later years, she and James enjoyed traveling with friends, playing tennis, walking the beaches of Hilton Head Island, participating in Bible studies, the Hunting Hills Garden Club, her Ladies Dinner Club, and delighting in her role as grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Church of the Holy Spirit for their prayers and calls, to Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate care, and to her special " angels " at Harmony Assisted Living, where Christine made her home for nearly two years. Special thanks are also extended to her devoted caregivers-Bonnie, Chris, Lisa, Bonnie, and Visiting Angel Bridgette-whose care and kindness were a blessing to her and her family.
Christine will be remembered for her radiant smile, her kind and welcoming spirit, and her unwavering devotion to her Lord, her family, and her many friends. She was a humble servant of Christ, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a true friend to all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel at Church of the Holy Spirit on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 11 a.m., officiated by Bishop Quigg Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Christine's memory through acts of kindness, service, and faith. Condolences may be shared with her family by visiting
