Clarence Stump Obituary

Clarence Calvin Stump, 79, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. He was retired from Rainbow Bread Company after many years of loyal service. He was predeceased by his parents, John Robert Stump and Audrey Emma Pendleton Stump; and his wife of 50 years, Betty Jane Coleman Stump. He is survived by his son, Michael L. Smith and fiancée, Carol Ferguson; beloved grandson, Michael L. Smith II; granddaughter, Kimberly Heron and husband, Barry, and children; and special friend, Herb Patterson. He was liked by all who knew him and will be missed. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel with Dr. Ken Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

What a great guy. I met Clarence through my father, Buck Armentrout who worked with Clarence at Rainbo Bread. I always enjoyed being around Clarence and learned a lot from him during the times I was lucky enough to hang around him and my Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
