Constance Hagee Obituary

Constance Anne Newman (Connie) Hagee, 57, of Max Meadows, Va., died peacefully at her son and daughter-inlaw's home on Sunday, August 29, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 20, 1952, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Dr. James Madison and Constance Mosler Newman. She was a special education teacher for 27 years in the Wythe and Bland County Schools. Connie was a dedicated mother, grandmother, friend and an avid animal lover. She is survived by her husband, James Edward Hagee; children, Kirk and Amy Phillippi, Sally and Chip Dunford, Todd and Teresa Hagee, and Brian and Jessie Hagee; grandchildren, Lynsey and Reed Phillippi, Molly Dunford, and Regan Hagee; and sister , Barbie Newman Hunter, of Asheville, N.C. A Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Bolen and the Rev. Don Stansell officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jean K. Lester, 430 West Washington Street, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va., is in charge of arrangements.

Connie was a very special person, loving wife, mother and teacher of those with special needs.
Her struggle is now over and she is with the Lord now and forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with her.
