David Maxey Obituary
March 13, 1944 - September 16, 2025
David William Maxey, 81, of Fincastle, Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
He faithfully served his country in the National Guard and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a true jack of all trades. David will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, and the many ways he used his skills to help others.
He was preceded in death by his beloved high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Sandra Naff Maxey; his brother, Robert Gary Maxey; his mother, Magdalene "Madge" Bryant Maxey; and his father, Robert Padgett Maxey.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Elaine Maxey-Sopchak and Christie Mann; his grandchildren, Bailey and Rachel Mann; and many dear friends and extended family members who will miss him greatly.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Oakey's North Chapel. A service honoring David's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, also at Oakey's North Chapel. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Airstream Whiskey Lounge at The Train Station, 1402 S Jefferson St. Roanoke, VA 24016 to celebrate David's life and share cherished memories.
