Delores Marie Bartone Turano, dedicated mom, grandmother and devoted friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the age of 96. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Roanoke, Va.
She was born on October 15, 1928, in Conneaut, Ohio, to the late Ottavio Bartone and Mary (Pape) Green. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Anthony "Flan" Bartone of Conneaut, Ohio; son-in-law, Jim Ward of Roanoke, Va.; and dear friend, Jerry Majnich of Roanoke, Va.
Delores is survived by her children, John of Eastlake, Ohio, Karen Gwitt (Joe), Jo Ann Ward, Marie Bacon (Tony), and Tina Renick (John), all of Roanoke, Va. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Delores lived in Erie, Pa., for most of her life where she made lifelong friends and enjoyed many family gatherings. She spent over 20 years as the Clubhouse manager at the Lake Shore Country Club in Fairview, Pa.
Delores enjoyed being with her family, especially during the Christmas holidays. The raviolis and the sauce have always been a long-time family tradition. She also enjoyed playing her weekly Pinochle games with her local Roanoke friends.
A funeral mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church in Roanoke, Va.
We wish to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Good Samaritan Hospice of Salem, Va. They were extremely helpful, and very supportive to our family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Delores's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be expressed at www.Oakeys.com.
She will be missed, but our memory of her will forever be a comfort.
